skid steer attachment carrier

I' ve talked to two different dealers on the JD skid steer attachment for a 300CX loader. One says it is on the put on the loader and taken off to use the standard 61" JD bucket. The other says it is more part of the loader and requires a special skid steer type 66" utility bucket which can either be low profile with smaller capacity (16 cu ft.) or more standard in type with 21 cu ft. capacity.
It seems kind of rediculous to have to remove the skid steer attachment just to use the bucket each time. I have a bobcat pallet fork and PHD and like the skid steer platform.
How does it really work? I'm not sure either has sold may of these. Personally, I think JD should get with the program and offer a true skid steer type hook up option.

the 300CX loader can be ordered in either way,
with the skid steer carrier,
or the JD quicktatch carrier.

If you have the JD system, you can then buy
an adaptor to use the skid steer attachments,
but that would be removed for the quicktatch
attachments if you had them also.

if you just want the skid steer style, then order
the loader that way, and that is what you will have,
with no adaptor needed.

i guess in a way both dealers are right, but maybe
didn't explain very clearly the differences.

I have the SS attachment system on my loader and ordered it that way. I also ordered the loader with the bucket delete option and opted for JD skid steer construction bucket.

The dealer had the tractor and loader in stock, with a JD bucket (no ss attachement) and let me take the tractor home for 3 weeks and after all the parts arrived, the swapped out the standard brackets for the ss type brackets and installed my bucket.

I don't see an easy way to swap out the ss attachment with the regular bucket brackets, but since I don't have the regular type of brackets I can't help you there. I do like the ss type attachement system and use it to switch between my pallet forks and bucket in about 15 seconds.

If you have the JDquicktach system, you will need an adaptor plate
to hook on before you can use your bobcat forks and phd.

If you opt for the JD Skid Steer Carrier instead of the JD QuickTach,
then you will be able to use a Skid Steer bucket, and can also hook into your forks and auger very easily with no adaptors.

Do you have the loader now??

ATI Tach-All

This is ATI's JD proprietary to SSL QA adapter. Note that the adapter itself is a JD QA attachment, just like any other JD proprietary QA implement.

Kind of a best of both worlds situation in that it lets you use either JD proprietary QA implements or SSL QA implements and maintain QA mounting for either style attachment. The one downside is that when you use the JD QA to SSL QA adapter, you will loose a small amount of your FEL lift capacity since the adapter will push the SSL attachments a little further away from the FEL.

Also, ATI makes SSL mounting plates that can be used to convert attachments to SSL QA.

No, I do not have the loader but am planning to sell my Kubota 3710 for a JD 5320 with cab. I have a aftermarket skid steer adapter plate on my Kubota loader. The way I understand from the salesman, is that the skid steer attachment carrier ($411) fits on the standard Jd attachment bracket which is currently on the loader. The skid steer type bucket/phd/pallet fork would then attach to the skid steer attachment carrier. Is that right? It would seem to make more sense to completely omit the standard JD quicktatch and directly mount the skid steer attachment carrier directly to the loader arms to reduce loader weight.

Is it possible to get a factory direct JD loader with a skid steer type plate directly mounted on the loader arms and omit the standard JD type loader attachment brackets (JD quicktatch)? I would like to keep the weight on the front as little as possible.
Sorry for so many questions, but I'm not sure the salesman has sold skid steer attachment carrier.

Thanks for the picture. That is similar to the Kasco skid steer attachment on my kubota. What I want to do is get rid of the extra weight of the adapter and and directly mount the skid steer carrier directly to the loader arms and get a skid steer type bucket. My kubota has the skid steer adapter on the loader and it has another adapter on the bucket to mate with the loader. The two together probably add 200# of weight and reduced lift. At the time I bought the two adapters, skid steer style of attachment was not common in the compact tractor world.

Ah, a 5320. With a 541 or 542 FEL?

According the the ATI PDF brochure, you want to buy the "QA-JD3" Tach-ALL adapter. I "think" it replaces the JD proprietary QA. The shipping weight on the QA-JD3 is listed at 106 lbs. Don't forget that the 106 lbs. is replacing the weight of the now discarded JD QA bracket. Should be a near net zero gain in weight.

The problem with ATI is they do not sell direct to the public. I've called their tech support line in the past and they were very helpful, but you have to purchase their stuff through a dealer that works with ATI.

Since JD now offers a SSL QA option for their 542 FELs, you should be able to purchase one directly through JD. I am certain it replaces the JD proprietary setup for a net zero (ish) weight and length gain.

There is also a company called Horst that sells similar SSL adapters. Check out Horst Quick Fit Adapter. Horst stuff is significantly less expensive than ATI, at least for the application I was investigating (old JD model 48 FEL to SSL QA adapter). One place to purchase Horst is through ACI Distributors. They do sell and ship direct to individuals.

Just got off the phone with second saleman who then e-mailed me picture of both types of loader front end mount brackets. A picture is definitely worth a thousand words. The standard JD loader brackets are removed and replaced by the skid steer carrier bracket/plate. The standard JD brackets are then mine to keep.
Unfortunately, the second saleman's price is higher and he is 40 miles away. The second salesman knows the product much better than the closer guy.

Since I only paid for the skid steer brackets, I didn't get the JD QD brackets, but even if I did, they wouldn't do me any good as the bucket I purchased was a JD skid steer bucket (HD construction bucket) that only mounts via the SS brackety. Later I purchased a set of SS pallet forks from the bobcat dealer. I constantly switch between forks and bucket and like I said before it takes about 15 seconds. Before I get on the tractor, I simply lift the 2 release levers, take the implement I want to remove and set it on the gound level and curl the implement down, back up, drive up to the next implement, curl the implement up after I made sure it has properly engaged, get off the tractor, and lock the 2 release levers.

I wouldn't know how to disconect a bucket using the JD QD brackets as I have never done so.

The nice thing about the SS bracket is that all standard SS attachment can be used with my tractor (I have auxillary hydraulics at the bucket for my grapple) and could even use a hydraulic posthole digger if I wanted to do so. Around here, I can rent a variety of implements from the bobcat dealer if I should need to do so in the future.

I hope this information helps a little or might even be more confusing. The key is when you buy the SS brackets, do not purchase the "standard buckets from the dealer", you will have to buy SS type buckets and your dealer might not be able to get JD construction type of equipment, but should be able to aquire it for you.

Do yourself a favor and add it. The SS buckets are WAY tougher. I went with the 66" Foundry bucket and 48" HD pallet forks

When I got my machine I opted for the SS quick attach right from the get go...shopping for Skid Steer attachments is so much easier & cheaper...dollar for dollar, you get better built equipment (Fork Racks, Buckets) for the same money. Not to mention, even if I changed tractor size or brand, my buckets would all still work which is the biggest benefit to an "Industry Standard"

The Same goes for me as far as the "JD Shoe" type QA..I've never used them, The way Skid Steer Buckets attach is elegantly simple and rock solid. The way the pins are designed that hold the bucket ensures they fit tight & solid...plus IMO pushing with the Skid Steer plates distributes the force throughout the entire bucket back...not just the 2 little shoe areas...so even with a weaker bucket, it would be inherintly stronger IMO.
