I'm reluctant to reveal my ignorance but can someone tell me what a skid shoe is on rotary mower and back blade? What do they do? Can they be added to the implement?

Thanks

SEEMS TO ME THEY ARE SOMETHING THAT WOULD ATTACH TO YOUR BALD THAT WILL SLIDE OVER THE GROUND AND MAINTAIN A CONSTANT DEPTH FOR THE MATERIAL YOU ARE TRYING TO MOVE ie SPREADING GRAVEL TO A 4'' DEPTH .
HOPE THIS HELPS I'M NOT SURE IF I'M RIGHT JUST HOW IT SEEMS THAT IT WOULD WORK TO ME THANKS JRAY

Yea, you put these on your back blade and you can only lower it so much .That way when you use it to plow snow with you don't have all of your gravel driveway in your backyard come spring time

I think a skid shoe on a rotary cutter is different than what's on a blade or rake. The front shoulders of the housing of the rotary cutter -- the lower edges of the enclosure on the front corners-- get a lot of wear because users drag the cutters thru uneven ground and over rocks, stumps, etc. These corners have wide, thick metal welded on the bottom -- they're what's called skid shoes on cutters. If you wear them out, you're really working hard on rough terrain.
