skid plates for 3x20s?

I was working a brush pile Sunday and had log pop up and crush my step Luckily it didn't do any other damage. But I was looking around underneath and noticed how vulnerable the tractor is to this kind of damage.

I asked my salesman about a skid plate kit and he suggested the LVB25453 Heavy-duty skid plate kit (4210,4310,4410). He said he thought they would fit my 3720.

Has anyone installed these on a 3x20? I did a search and found posts on the 4xxx series but I am really interested in 3x20 series application. Or are there any aftermarket kits?

JDParts only shows that kit fitting the 4210-4310-4410 machines. I am surprised they don't offer a version for the current offerings.

Keep on it, though. Mine is worth many times more than what I paid for it...

The dealer is telling you he thinks it will fit. Tell him you think you will take it. Ask him to order it for you and if it fits you will take it, if it does not he keeps it. Various parts from different models will fit different series tractors even though they are not listed in the parts for that tractor. I was able to use front blade mounts on my 3520 that are not even listed for that model. A friend has a 4000 series tractor with a front blade and I measured his blade mounting holes and they where the same as my 3520 so the mounts fit. It may be the same with the skid plate. The only thing is the dealer needs to stand behind his "I thinks"

Look at a tractor that the skid plate is made to fit and figure out what holes it bolts too. Then see if your 3720 has the same configuration of holes. Just a thought.

he already agreed to take it back if it didn't fit. I was hoping to save us both some trouble. He is kind of low on inventory so even if I could get over there before hand, there isn't a 4x10 to compare to.

I seem to be in installation/modification mode right now so I should have a few items to report on soon. Trying to get all the outdoor work done before the steady, cold rains hit

Post some pics of the skid plate if it fits, I may want ot put one on my 3520.

I have the skid plates on my 4310 and wouldn't think of going without them. They are very beefy and worth more than what they cost. So if they do fit, it will be a highly recommended upgrade.

slavetohorses,I just looked on the JD parts site and it gives a price for the skidplate, but also has "part obsolete" . It has it listed for the 4410,so it should fit your 3720 OK.

obsolete eh? I guess we will see since he went ahead and ordered it.

I am still amazed they don't offer one for the 3x20's. Sometimes Deere really seems out of touch.

Perhaps Turkeyman could weigh in on this thread. He has a 4720 with skidplates on it. I believe he custom made the skidplates himself. He has a nice setup with a Brown Tree Cutter.
