MF 1433v
Have to bite the bullet and replace my leaking FEL joystick control. The hydraulic stats for my MF 1433v say: Pump flow-7.7 gpm Steering flow- 4.5 gpm Total flow- 12.2 gpm Do I size the valve for the pump flow or total flow.

I will be interested in an answer from somebody that understands the stats you have listed. Specifically - how can total flow be more than pump flow. Does your tractor have two hydraulic pumps.

Good point. Beats the heck out of me! That's why I was asking the question.

I haven't looked at your tractor but if it has one pump it will normally have a priority flow control valve sending a portion of flow to the steering, because it must always have flow(safety) and the remainder to 3pt/remotes/FEL etc. If it has a dual pump, one is dedicated to steering and sometimes PTO and HST, the other to 3pt/remotes/FEL etc. So you size for 8GPM. Have you gone down the path of checking for seals etc for your joystick. Some brands have seal kits, others don't, depending on their design.

I haven't looked, but you'll probably find most FEL control valves will handle that flow rate, but be sure to check.
Sign up for the online parts catalog and have a look to see if anything is available for your existing valve

Go look at northern tool micro valves ( think that's what they call them). Seem to be a good deal

It appears from viewing MF1433V parts catalog that this tractor has 2 hyd pumps 1 for steering & 1 for all other hyd functions. I think you need a JS control valve close to 7.7 GPM. If you select a control valve with a much larger GPM you will loose some ability to feather the movements of FEL.

FWIW I just replaced the FEL JS control valve on my 336D which has a rated flow of 8.2GPM.

Purchased this item with a nominal flow rating of 10GPM and comes configured with open center, has rapid bucket-tip and boom float:
2 SPOOL 10 GPM COMPACT HYDRAULIC JOYSTICK CONTROL VALVE BRAND LV22RFSTKAB 9-7401

I also got the Power Beyond sleeve for my requirements (depends on your system):
LV2-W HYDRAULIC POWER BEYOND CARTRIDGE SLEEVE KIT FOR LV22RFSTKAB VALVE

If you need closed center:
LV2-C HYDRAULIC CLOSED CENTER KIT FOR LV22RFSTKAB LOADER VALVE

The detailed catalog with specs, JS orientation and mounting info is here from the manufacturer website: Brand Hydraulics LV Series Catalog (PDF). The JS and mounting orientation for the specific product linked above is on page D-56 (PDF page 6/32) in that catalog.

No affiliation with the linked vendor, just sharing FYI because my transaction was the best delivered price for that item I found and the vendor was excellent - good update communications, immediate shipping with tracking, product exactly as advertised brand-new in original box. If the mounting and JS movement is correct for your use, I recommend it for consideration. Made in the USA and rebuild kits / parts available if ever needed.
