Hey everyone, I'm in the market for a replacement trailer for my ATV. I really have a specific use/need and I'll explain why. I currently have a 4x7 homemade, all-steel trailer and I've replaced so much stuff that I'm tired of working on it. The metal is getting rusted and I think it's time to invest in something a little better. I use the trailer specifically to haul my ATV and I do NOT want to go bigger than 4x7. I could get away with going with a 4x6, but 4x7 would be better. I do a lot of deer hunting and I do it by myself. I have found that I can haul my ATV to the woods on the 4x7 trailer, then if I get I shoot a deer, I can hook the trailer back to my ATV and take it down the trails and haul my deer back to the truck. The deer then fits underneath the ATV for the ride home. I don't have to strain my back trying to get the deer up on the ATV racks and try to get it strapped on for the rough ride back to the truck. This method has been a lifesaver for me for several years and I can't imagine anything else working quite so well. I definitely do NOT want to go with a 5ft wide trailer. The 4ft is perfect for my wooded trails. I don't mind spending a little more money in order to get something good quality. But so far, the used market has shown junk in trailers that small and the most common size I see for sale is 5x8, which is too big. Does anyone have any advice or recommendations on a small, 4x6 or 4x7 ATV trailer? I already have a 16ft flatbed trailer, so I want to stick with the small size for the reason above. Thanks.

Closest I see is 4.5 x 7.5 at TSC.

I inherited a 4x6 trailer my father bought from Lowes when he bought a cheap riding mower. It's the kind with 1' sides and front with 12" wheels. He put 1000s of miles on it and I bet I've put even more on it. It has to be at least 14 years old now. I just checked the grease in the bearings (looks great). I bought replacement tires and wheels for it but the originals still have no signs of dry rot or cracks. It has an expanded metal deck with a drop down ramp. It's too small for a side by side but an ATV would fit perfectly. I don't know the brand but I would recommend one.

I'd advise drawing your needs on paper then get estimates for having it built. I wanted a dog, atv, big game, firewood, camping gearand people hauler so I bought a used tilting boat trailer then modified it to suit my needs. Bought 90% of material at a scrap metal yard, cut, assembled and welded non-critical parts, tack welded critical joints then hired a pro welder to run critical beads.

I bought a 4x8 tilt Sure-trac back in 1998 and definitely got my money ($350 sale) out of it. It has a 2000lb gvwr and a Dexter axle! Small trailers sure are nice if that is all you need.
