Simplicity Legacy
Hi all,

New to the board - I recently bought a house with a 2-acre yard and a used Simplicity Legacy w/25hp Kohler and 60" deck to go with it.

I'm looking for attachments, but the dealers aren't much help because they're mostly interested in selling new tractors and the attachments that go with them. I've also been keeping an eye on Craigslist for my area without a whole lot of luck.

I'm interested in the Turbo bagger, snowblower, and possibly the rotary broom and hard cab. I saw the Sweepster broom for $1500 and a 2-stage snowblower for $700 on craigslist before I bought the tractor, and now I'm wishing I would have snapped them up because I haven't seen any more brooms for sale and the only snowblower I've seen was a single-stage for more than double the price of that 2-stage!

Also, does the turbo bagger need the rear PTO? And does the broom need the front hydraulics? I don't have either, is that something that can be retrofitted?

Does anyone have better suggestions than Craigslist for buying used Simplicity Legacy attachments?

Thanks for any help!

Kent

Keep eyeing craigslist and perhaps tractorhouse (there really isn't anything more you can do). There are plenty of Legacy attachments that come up for sale here in WI. Just have to have a little patience.
No, the turbo bagger does not use the rear PTO. Also, I don't believe the broom needs the hydraulics but not 100% sure on that.

Good luck on your search...if I find any of the attachments your looking for I'll be sure to post them here.

Thanks Ernie!

I've come across a site before that would show part numbers for attachments that would fit with a particular tractor, but I can't find that now - Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Have turbo set up you want dontuse it but im in nj  unforturnatly.I have worked on it many times doesnt pick up long wet grass very well.Be careful whenbying used setup. U needdrive pully off mower deck andvariours other parts off deck.parts tree usually has everything .But some parts come up obsolete.Dont need rear pto turbo driven off hirise pully on mower deck. You might be better off getting a generac setup like thewagon that pulls behind with small engine onit .How much grass ar u cutting?Tripple bagger fills uppretty quick when grass is high and turbo cloggs p i t a to take off and clean ou wet grass.I have all the manuals on it so if your heart is set on it i cangive u parts list .Might definateally need help downloading stuff but ill give it a shot.:confused:How is it getting parts through simplicity by u?Since brigs bought them i think the company has gone2 sh&* i have wated up to 6 months for parts most wear parts i keep 2 backups of .Happy hunting.:drink:

Thanks, good tips!

You might be better off getting a generac setup like thewagon that pulls behind with small engine onit .

I've considered that, but I don't think I'll have enough room in my garage to store it, and that's yet another engine to maintain (and pickle for the winter). Part of the reason I want attachments for the Legacy instead of separate units is to keep it running year-round.

How much grass ar u cutting?Tripple bagger fills uppretty quick when grass is high and turbo cloggs p i t a to take off and clean ou wet grass.

Yeah, when I was growing up my parents had a 7112 with a trailer bagger and the turbo that sat behind the tractor. You had to be very careful how much "stuff" went through it at a time, be it grass or leaves, and stopping to clean out the tubes was an all-too-frequent occurrence!

How is it getting parts through simplicity by u?Since brigs bought them i think the company has gone2 sh&* i have wated up to 6 months for parts most wear parts i keep 2 backups of .Happy hunting.:drink:

Luckily, I haven't needed any parts yet! I'm not a big fan of the hours most dealers have - 8 AM until noonish on Saturday, closed on Sunday, 7:30-5 during the week. That makes it hard to get to them, and if I throw a belt or something I'd have to quit for the week - That's why I'm a big fan of the shaft drive on the legacy! Unfortunately the mower deck still has the one belt...

Living in SE WI though, if they hassle me too much I can easily pay the Simplicity factory an in-person visit, and Briggs is here too. In fact, I used to drive past Briggs HQ on my way home from work, and my brother-in-law's father-in-law used to be their CIO before he retired so I might have some strings I could pull too. However, I certainly hope I wouldn't have to do that!

Ihave instruction manual that came with turbo .Just thumbing through it for u and found out u need thecover off the other deck.It has acutout for the hirise pully and a protective cover for pully stickink out of deck .There is also a lift kit for discharge deflector u need. If someone wants to sell u it you are going to have to swap alot of parts because if u dont someones deck well be usless.Do u know of any junk yards for that stuff might be worth a shot .The triple bager has a special hitch u need off doner tractor. If u find just turbo and catcher u can probably make it work with some fab skills and can by the rest of parts off parts tree.:cool2::drink:

Yeah, I was looking through the manuals online last night. I found a dealer with a used bagger but it appears to be missing the hitch, and it is ridiculously expensive (~$175) to get a new one! They're contacting the previous owner to see if he's still got the hitch on his tractor.

BTW, I found the site I was looking for. Jack's Small Engines. Very similar to partstree but more graphics so it's a bit easier to navigate.

Hitch dont seem to hard to fab up .When u by catcher i think they put on hitch and leave off bumper support so anyone wanting to sell catcher probally wont want to un bolt hitch .But worth a shot.Might have to get stuff piece by piece.:drink:
