Does anybody know how many horsepower it takes to run a ford sickle bar mower?I have a 1610d and need one to mow the banks and ditches.

Generally, not much... This is the huge advantage of sickle bar mowing. At a farm where I worked as a kid, we had a 7' sickle bar running on a homemade 8 HP dedicated machine. The guy also had a machine shop and cobbled together an old automobile transmission with a Bolens riding mower engine to make this rig. Worked like a champ for years.
