My 2615s MMM needed a new belt this spring. Ordered one from Mahundra thru my dealer. Right at $65. Shreaded new belt last weekend. The old belt had no markings, the new belt was labled B-142. Went to bestorq.com and got it for $8.66. Turns out B is the belt thickness, 142 is the ID of the belt.

Charlie - thanks for explaining the ID on the belts, and also the email site of belts with good prices on belts. I do think your dealer that you purchased your new belt from was taking you for a bit of a "ride" however in his pricing. Yes - Mahindra might suggest that price but it was up to the dealer to earn a reasonable profit or take it all - so to speak. I'm assuming you were talking about the fan, alternator, hydraulic pump belt on your tractor. I was a little lax on maintaining the proper tension on my 4500 and went thru a belt. I called my dealer and received a belt UPS 3 days later for $18.00 in a Madindra packaging. With your info - it gives us an alternate site to shop from. If enough of us are aware of alternate vendors for the oil filters, fuel filters, belts, hoses, etc - somebody will get the hint that they aren't the only show in town.

My dealer has overcharged me on otherthings, no reason to think different here.

As I said in the first post. The belt was for the Mid Mount Mower (MMM). The belt is about 12ft (142in) ID.

I'm sorry Charlie - some of the acronyms are a little confusing sometimes. MMM's, CUT's, FEL's etc put me in a learning curve once again. I guess for a 12' belt, the price as the dealer quoted versus what you researched and found it for, is a big difference. but more realistic than a fan/alternator, pump belt at the $65.00 pricetag. Thanks for explaining my mistake in thinking.

Charlie,
How many hours did you get on that mower belt? I sure hope mine last more than one season! /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif Danny

Clyde, I haven't even thought about maintenance on the motor fan belt. I'm glad you brought that to my attention. I guess I was expecting an automatic tensioner as on a car. Is this something that requires regular adjustment? Thanks, Danny

demote, The first belt lasted one season but I am hard on my equipment. I had hit so much big stuff (locking the blade and smoking the belt) that the belt would no longer stay on. The second belt was damaged by unknown causes. It lasted about a season.

Charlie,
Did you receive that belt within 4-5 days?
There surely was a shipping charge, how much?
From whence was shipment originated?

Regards

I got the belts in less than 4 days. At about $9 I ordered 2 belts (same shipping cost). The total bill was $25 + or - a buck.
