I'm looking for ideas on mounting some shovels and rakes on the side or front of a dump trailer. 2 to 3 items in total.
I want to avoid rubber and strap based solutions as they'll rot. I would like the solution to be easy to use. That is, I don't want to move 2 things, rise the bed, lower my tailgate, flip 2 switches, close the tailgate, cross my toes, raise the jack, adjust a chain, just to get a shovel. Removal and securing of the tools should be fast and easy.
The tools should be very securely mounted. They must not fall off during transportation operations. Installing or returning of the tool should be very easy.
The mounting system should be as universal as possible. I don't want to be tied to one band or design of tool just cause of a mounting method.
Security / Theft, the design should include some kind of basic security. Mainly an option to lock the tools should the trailer need to remain parked at a job site for extend time. This is an option, not a main selling point for me.
Visually should look appealing, both when tools are mounted and when no tools are mounted. The visual aspect should continue both when bed is down and when bed is at full tilt. I'm willing to deal with less then appealing look when bed is between lowed and full tilt. I personally prefer a horizontal solution. I feel a vertical solution will make the tools more visual, and thus bring in thiefs.
So, lets see how everyone here mounted their tools to their dump or work trailers.
Thanks!
