Im looking to purchase a new John Deere 3320. Recently I called my local dealer to get a price and there charging the same price as the manufactures suggested retail. Is this normal not to get anything off suggested retail???

most cases no.
but if there r a couple of people looking at the tractor the old supply and demand comes in.

there r other tractors out there that r just as good. if u r a jd guy than u need 2 buy jd. if u r looking for a tractor with the same quailty and cheaper price u will fined 1. u also will fined a tractor that is better for the same price as the jd.

don't be fooled by guys who think jd is the only tractor out there.

I really have to call in question the guy that says you can buy a better tractor for the same price as a John Deere. Sounds like he just wants to start an argument, by saying that on a JD site. Over many, many years of driving just about every brand that is well known, I haven't found any that were better at any price. That is why I have one now, it is the first one I have owned. But if I thought for a minute, that some other brand was better, that is what I would own now. And most dealers will come down some, if they know you really want to buy. If the one dealer won't go to another, then when he does, if he is too far away, tell the first dealer what you can buy it for, and most of the time, they will at least meet it.

Welcome to TBN!

People on this board report 10-20% off list depending on the model, where you live, and what accessories (like Front End Loader, Mower etc.) you are including.

Welcome to the forum.
I would suspect your 'quote' might have something to do with you asking over the phone. They have 'no idea' who you are, and it may make a difference.
Go sit with the salesman and have a talk. He will size you up and you can size him up.
Typically, the answer is 'no' to your question. But lots of things enter into that equation. No different than buying cars.
Good luck.

Very well said pruntyc! linpat always comes to the jd forum to start his line of bunk. He seems to have it in for jd (I'm thinking that he's alittle green with envy) /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif. As to the posters question, I'm thinking that yes if you are ready to purchase a tractor and do alittle shopping you can get the going rate off of retail. I was fortunate that my dealer would rather sell 10 tractors and make alittle off of each one than sell one tractor and make a bunch off of it. I didn't have to dicker with them at all, just went in and asked for the best possible deal and took the figures, checked out the prices that some of the other posters on this forum got, went in and signed the papers. It was a very nice transaction. The best thing to do is go back in to the dealship, them them that you are ready to buy, tell them that you heard on tbn that most people get 10-15% off retail and that's what you would expect from them, I can't imagine that they wouldn't do that for you unless they are a very small dealship and plan on staying that way. Good luck in your shopping! of course that's only my opinion take it for what it's worth... .02cents /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

p.s. linpat, your lack of typing skills and demeaning of jd is actually quite amusing keep up the good work! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hi Jeffery442, I just wanted to reply to you directly, I got my 3320 in dec. 05 for $29,000 and some change. I got the 300cx fel w/hd 61" bucket, a frontier BB2060 box blade, 3rd scv. power beyond kit, aux frt. and rear lights, 448 back hoe w/24" hd bucket, r4 tires, and e-hydro. Hope this helps! Good luck and like others have said "go to the dealership in person" that IMHO is the only way to do business.

Call as many dealers within a 100 miles and tell them to just give you their "best price with no bs." Know the product you are looking at so you sound like a real buyer.
After you get all the prices, take the lowest one to all the others. . . repeat this process till you get to rock bottom. Same as buying a car or truck.

I would not pay MSRP. My dealer is running anywhere from 8 to 20% off on tractors, implements, etc.

I woudl try another dealer.
