Should I defect from Kubota

Another real world example: bought CK20 with KB2365 backhoe for $15000. Two years and 300+hrs later got $12000 for it as trade on already discounted DK40se plus BH. Given that the second dealer had my old CK20 setup sold before he got it back to the shop and must have made a profit, I presume he got at least 13000 maybe more for it. Not exactly a used Yugo in regards to retained value.

Just seems to me that it's better to have more PTO hp for about the same money. The MX5100 also has a better turning radius, which could come in handy - about 8m compared to 10 on the Kioti. I would imagine this could make a difference in tight spots.

You can get the EX HST without the cab - it's just a bit more tempting from a price comparisson point of view. Albeit over budget!
More HP never hurts, except sometimes in the pocket book! I never did get a firm quote for an MX5100, but I think decked out the same as a DK50 hst it was still going to be about 20% more. That's with the SSQA loader, 2 rear remotes. My DK40 was about 10-12% cheaper than the DK50 so it was an easy choice for me.
If you like both the dealers and can get an MX5100 with the options you want for the same as a EX50, I guess I might get the kubota as well. I suspect your Kioti dealer is quoting MSRP, but I guess that's his choice. If my Kioti dealer stuck to MSRP I wouldn't have this colour of orange tractor either.

Another thing to consider is interest rate and warranty. I have a MX5100, my brother has a DK35SE (I took him to the Kioti dealer). When I was shopping, the Kioti was a few thousand less than what the dealer wanted for the Kubota, and there was only one Kioti dealer nearby, compared to three Kubota dealers within 1.5 hours. The MX has less standard equipment when compared to a DK. As far as advice goes, decide what you plan on doing with the tractor, what you would like to do someday with the tractor and which one best suits your needs. Drive them around and see which feels better to you, and which dealer seems better. There are good and bad tractors in every brand, and prices are going up. Go with you gut feeling...either brand is a good choice.

The Kioti dealer just came back with a really tempting offer on a 50hp Cab model, cheaper all up than a very good deal on the MX5100 - this is a tough choice! (Aircon could prove the winner here for long hot summers!)

Even as a Kubota owner, I 'd go for the CAB. MX5100 is good tractor but nothing fancy.

It is simple math, but not the way you put it... It has everything to do with "real" quaility, as well as "perceived" quality. Easy numbers - tractor #1 sells for 20K and 5 years later is worth 15K while a comparable machine, tractor #2 sells for 15K and 5 years later is worth 8K. Which tractor has better resale value?

Do not get me wrong, I am not bashing Kioti or any other machine out there, but please know a little about the manufacturers you are referencing, at least in regards to their reputations... Bobcat was sold several years ago to a South Korean conglomerate and at the time had absolutely no presence in CUTs. McCormick is an old farm name and just that - a name. They were out of business for decades and were re-introduced when another tractor company had to divest itself of a manufacturing plant due to EU rules. They had a brand new plant opening and they sold off an old plant in England which became the "new" McCormick. At that time they manufactured old design machines and have only recently become involved with CUTs. Exactly what reputations are they staking their association with Daedong on?

and in those same 5 years how much additional interest has been eaten on the extra $5 K?

Honestly, it is simple math.......

Kioti makes a tractor of equivalent quality to Kubota.

Prices of Kubota tractors in Australia are considerably higher.

The Kioti Australian importer , PFG, is a very big and well established farming company that seems to be supportive of it's dealers.

My local Kioti dealer really wanted my business, was prepared to negotiate an attractive price and has provided good "on farm" follow up.

The loaders that come with Kiotis in Australia are the Ansung brand. They have different specs to the North American loaders.

I have been more than happy with my Ansung AL 41 loader and 4 in 1 bucket

You will get your required implements for a better price if you buy them with the tractor.

Other than a few minor Items, I am very happy with my Kioti DS3510. Has less office space than the DK or CK series, but I am use to that on my old
tractor. Hardly notice the difference. But, performance, It out performs any
of the Fords I had. Equivilant to a NAA series in HP, put performs like a 800
series Ford. NO COMPLAINTS here!
