Oil & Fuel Shell Rotella T4 Triple Protection for my 4540 4x4 Tier IV

I am getting ready to do my first 50 hour service on my Mahindra 4540 4x4 Tier IV tractor. I have 2.5 gallons of Shell Rotella T4 Triple Protection. Someone stated in another thread this oil would not be suitable for a Tier IV motor, but to the best I can tell, it meets the criteria in the owners manual. Does anyone have some input to help me out? I just want to make sure I don't void the warranty. It is over 1 hour to my dealer, and with the Rotella T4 local, I would much rather go with it. Thank you

To my knowledge, all the rotella T4, T5, and T6 oils are compatible with the new tier IV and DPF stuff.

Thank you so much--that is what I though as well. The manual recommends Rotella T3 as one of the oils you can use, but since I can't find it anywhere and T4 is supposed to be an upgraded version, I don't know why it would hurt the Tier IV motor. The specs on it look the same to me.

T4 is good, T5 is better and T6 is the best grade. Any will work fine. I prefer the all synth T6.

^^^^ agree. T3 is not as good as T4. T3 is a economy "fleet" oil.

They will all do the job. But the good-better-best is about the only way to describe it.

Thanks Old Pilgrim--I saw the T6 at the store. It was considerably more, but for what it is protecting, it is worth it. I may take my T4 back and purchase some t6

Shell Rotella will keep your engine running fine. Have no fear about a warranty void, it is against the law for them to force you to use their oil or filters. I am running Mobil Delvac and Car Quest filters. Enjoy your new machine, you have a solid, dependable and proven tractor.

Advance Auto has one gallon jugs of T6 on sale for $18.99 with a $5 per gallon mail in rebate card. I bought 3 gallons yesterday.
