\"sheds and out buildings\"

Nice looking little building Chris. I have looked at them before but unfortunately the shed money always seems to get taken for other things so I've had to look more utilitarian in order to squeeze it in.

I would be interested in seeing progress pics and hear a little more on building and hear your plans to put it up.

Attached is a near completed pic of the "shed" I built for the BIL. As I said 12x16 on a 12x20 floating slab, stick built with 12x12 roof, 8' sidewalls 14+ to the peak. It was built to his wants and budget but tried to make it a lifetime building that was unique especially because me building a shed for him came about as the gambrel "kit" shed shot up in price just before he went to buy. Was intended to have a "hay" door in front for access to the rafter storage but the Coke button was something that he had for years just waiting for a place to hang it. The button will eventually be hinged to alow access to the door.

The "shed" I am designing for myself will be similar to his as in a full size small building rather than a shed

Anyway.....would like to hear more

Regards,
Kevin

Re: \"sheds and out buildings\"

Sorry everyone. I didn't want to steal Tdog's thread "Cost of pole barn - workshop" as I was interested in the building Chris replied about in that thread so started a new one.

Guess I should've said that first.

Re: \"sheds and out buildings\"

KHD,
I'll do some progress pics for the list when they start building. I called the builder yesterday and told him the foundation is in and backfilled. They said I'll get the next available crew.

My guess is it will be in the next 2 to 3 weeks that they'll start.

Here is a link to another place that does nice work....

The prices are quite high though. I don't see the need to exceptional joinery in a building to house a tractor. These guys do that level of joinery.

Re: \"sheds and out buildings\"

KHD,
The little barn is the first of two buildings were putting up.

I have attached a pic of a barn that is very close to the second building were doing. We'll have standard door openings and not the arched. We'll have the transom lights ( windows over doors) and we'll have the dormers with a standard 12 over 12 window.

This barn in the pic is 42 wide and we'll be doing 36 wide and 24 deep. On the back of our building we'll be adding a 12x24 lean-to with windows all across the back.

The side walls will be 12' with the second floor hung at 9'8" giving a 2' kneewall upstaris before the roof starts.

The garage area as I said is 24X36 but will be free span with no interior posts.

Regards,
Chris
