Got around to installing some tunes in the 1100. FYI there is a pair of factory speakers (4")already installed in the headliner as shown in the first pic. I took them out and replaced them with speakers of much better quality. Also built a couple of boxes and mounted them under the dash and put in two 5" speakers as shown. Installed a high power pioneer stereo/ cd with ipod port and satellite radio compatable. Sounds real good.

BTW thread should be "stereo in 1100". edit won't let me change title

****** Boy !

Got that thing going your way don't you. Looking really sharp, I can tell you.
When I figure out how exactly I want to do it, I plan on putting some sort of stereo system in mine with some type of amp & load speakers so I may shove in a disc of squeeling rabbits & such for the varmint hunting I do at times. I can see with myself and others, add-ons never stop with these RTV's.
I personally enjoy just seeing how much I can put on the unit ~~~~
Wife just made a joke last night with some other folks, saying that she wouldn't be surprised if I installed some sort of " Thermo - Imaging " devices on it since we already have the third gen night vision headsets. Wife can make some mean jokes with our toys !!

did you use the connector that is in the dash? did you find the mating connector or did you take a different route.

I did not use the connector. It wouldn't work for my application because I put in 4 speakers and the connector is set up for only two. I cut the connector off and used red sized connectors to hook it up to the wires on the stereo connector. Should you cut off the connector as I did the two blues are for the right overhead speaker, the yellows for the right. Solid blue/yellow are positive, stripped are negative. Black is ground. Green is battery power and red is accessory. Accessory prevents you from resetting your clock or preset stations every time you turn your radio on/off. If you plan on using the factory speakers you don't have to remove the headliners as the headliner foam has already been routed out so the sound will come through. The speaker wires are plugged in at the speakers.

Toy1,

If you do cut the connector, be sure to pull the 5 amp fuse first, its on the left hand row in the middle. Otherwise you will blow it as I did when you cut the connector, even with key off, as the accessory wire remains hot. I meant to write that the yellow wires are for the left overhead speaker.

Bigdeer2000,

I made the boxes myself, used 5" speakers in the boxes. I will get you the dimensions later today. If you go this route you will need to use the same or smaller to fit and clear the small shock absorber on the doors when closed. Sorry didn't get back to you sooner, been having computer problems.

I made the speaker boxes out of 1/2" MDF and covered with gray speakerbox fabric. Used 5" round high quality speakers. Box dimentions are 8 1/2" tall, 6 7/8" wide and 4 1/4" deep. There is zero room to go any bigger as they just clear the door shock absorber by maybe an 1/8". If you look at my photo's you can see where I drilled the bracket and used a bolt w/ lock washers and nut to fasten them.
