I was thinking of selling my Bolens TX1704 with a 48" mid mount mower, 5' rear blade, an a 30" rear scoop. any thoughts on a asking price. 800 hours. I think its a early 80's but I don't know, anyway to find out the year?

Where are you located? You may get some local contacts if you post that.

I my area in Northern California, Craig's List is a good place to post tractor ads.

Fremont Wi. I was fishing for an idea on how much to ask for it. (No one wants to pay what it's worth, an I don't want to give it away).

If you could post a nice photo of it, it would help. Its condition (both looks and mechanical/electrical) makes a big difference. I'm guessing that model may have a 3-cyl. Mitsu engine, 17-hp PTO rating, is 4x4, and I assume it's a gear transmission (hydro would be worth more). If it's a Bolens G174 then it is a 2-cyl. (Isuzu?) and is gear drive with 4x4, and has a 17-hp motor rating. The year of the G174 is from 1979 to early '80's, as shown in my 1979 Bolens brochure.

A tractor with re-sprayed sheet-metal and no original decals can really take a dive in price, at least with me. If it looks nice and is pretty much original, the gear drive tractor could be worth $2500 to $3000 with the mower. Someone might pay more, especially if they consider what they get new at the local store for that price. If it doesn't look nice and has lots of rust and torn seat cover it would be worth MUCH less. The blade and scoop together may be another $150 if in decent condition. Bolens branded Isekis should return a better sale price than their grey market equivalent, like my TS1610F is.

Oh, and I almost forgot, if it has power steering like some of the Bolens models did, add maybe another $500 to it's value. That would be a great selling point with most anyone.

Looks nice, a little smaller model than I had thought, more like a Kubota BX size sub-compact. With the hydro trans, and if the deck looks nice with good and tight spindles, I would stand by my estimate of $2500 to $3000.00. Does it have power steering? That would be another plus.

No power steering. I think I'll try "Craigslist" for a while.

Good luck on selling it. I would pay $2500 for it with mower if it was in my area, and if my wife would let me have aniother tractor;o) Craigslist would be the best bet. Selling on Ebay would most likely require shipping and no one wants to pay those prices these days due to rising fuel costs. Also try the local newspaper classifieds. You'd be surprised how many people still aren't conmnected to the web, and how much interest you can get going that way.

Let's see: 17hp/ 4x4/ hydrostatic drive/good sheet metal/ 2500 to 3000 sounds fair to me. One plus is, it fits in a pick-up,I think? I use to buy stuff like that when working/living in chicago burbs. and throw in the back of my pick-up and head to the deep south(home).sell for good money. I never saw BLADE BENDING grass(weeds) up there like in the south! Plus sun surface-like operating temps. An 80's tractor down in the south, like that would be long dead! They were easy sells to sombody knowing what they're looking at. Now everybody wants zero-turn in the south:rolleyes: Nice tractor I think:)

I live in Florida and I don't think you could get 2000.00$ for it down here. There's no mistaking that it's in fine shape and looks to be a great machine, but it's in a nich that does'nt bring a lot these days.
Paint it orange and get some Kubota decals and you may get 3000.00$
Best of luck
