My brother-in-law is selling a few thousand bales of hay. He is located in SW PA. If anyone is interested, reply to this post or send me a private message. I will put you in touch with him.

Heck, the way the drought is in the mid-atlantic, he may be better off holding it for a while.

The price will be going up.

Price is already hitting $7-$8 a bale for medium-to-poor quality hay around these parts. (small squares) Everyone is baling anything that they can get a string wrapped around. High quality hay is virtually nonexistant (or already sold). Glad I didn't sell my old baler!

What I sold ended up headed to Florida. It's in short supply here, but we have some. South and east of us is in deep trouble. I saw a guy baling plain ol' weeds yesterday. Along about next March, that'll be premium quality hay to someone. I bush hogged a place yesterday that was better hay. Cutting a field this afternoon that is better hay than my place. Sort of a shame to mow it down, but we can't have it for hay.

I passed two big trucks hauling 30-40 big round bales each the other day going east on I70. Sure seems strange to think it is cost effective to haul that stuff very far when I give away the fescue hay on my little place just to get it cut.

I am about 60% of what I should have. The very dry spring here did not help the hay crop. I put 800 bales in the barn for winter and 5000 in customers barns and was short 2000 of meeting the rest of my first cutting orders. Now I am praying for rain again to get a good second cutting. It would be the first second cutting I had in two years as last year it didn't stop raining until September and the fields were under water:(

Currently we have no hay at all

It has been raining in England since June.

Half of the country is flooded

You can't buy any hay at the moment as no one has any. There is some silage and haylage but it is about £7.00 ($12?) for a small square bale. I hope the weather gets better soon so we can get ours cut

I saw someone baling some today but it was raining when the cut it so I think it is going to be way to wet for the horses

You can buy good hay in this area for $2.75 a bale. Quite a few horse folks who like quality hay and so far seem to have no trouble finding it.
