2008 Frontier(Jinma)284
Good morning guys! I hope someone can help me. In 2008 I bought a new (2007) Jinma 284. It has been a good tractor for what I need but it has had some minor issues. Since new, after the tractor has been used for a while, the 3 pt hitch selector lever is difficult to move to raise or lower the 3 pt hitch. It works fine while the tractor is cold. I hope one of you has some info for me. No doubt something is binding in the valve body. I have no problem taking the valve body apart just thought that someone else may have experienced the same thing and could offer some help. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks guys.

I know its not a Jinma, but my Kubota did the same thing last week. I was using the 3pt hitch to follow constant changes in the ground, moving up and down as I mowed a terraced hill. The constant movement after a few hours of mowing got it very hot and the lever kept getting stiffer and stiffer. I stopped moving it for a while and cut some stuff at the same lever and it must have cooled down a lot, because the lever returned to normal.

No hard fix, but here is my thoughts:
- I will give my machine a break every once in a while. Let it idle and cool.
- Gonna change out the hydraulic fluid. Its got Super UTD2 in it and that's what will go back in. Its not due for another 200 hours, but its the original fill and I'm afraid I may have used up the additives getting hot like that.

Both of you could benefit from installing an oil cooler in the suction line to the hydraulic pump. Higher end machines have them as well as excavators, loaders, and skid steers. And typically any machine with hydrostatic drive. Hydraulic oils, including UTF, are designed to run between 190° and 220° F, same with the valve blocks, so when you exceed thermal equilibrium valve spools can get tight.
(You would almost have to re-crack the engine oil to it's base stock formulation to remove an additive package, and I know you're not getting it that hot). UDT, UDT2, and SUDT2 are nothing more than Kubota trade names for a formulated Universal Tractor Fluid (UTF), which is nothing more than a ISO AW 32 hydraulic oil with a special additive package. Remember, it's all about profits and marketing.

Thanks Bob for the great explanation. My DF uses UTF (common sump) . Not issues with my 3pt but explains a few minor things when I'm running my splitter off the remotes for hours.

My hydraulic fluid gets very hot when mowing on hot days after several hours.

I let it sit and idle for a half an hour while I have a beer in the house. Better for me also, lol.

It's all about priorities, isn't it.
