Thought I would take this public so all the 1850 people can maybe learn from it.

I went to the tractor store today, looking at brush hog blades. Was a bit of a disaster. So I revisited your thread on making your own. I wanted to get a clarification on how yours worked out.

My blades (factory) are 3" X 11" with the hole offset in the upper corner. Are your Factory the same size? If so, that solves a few of my dilemas.

My blade appears to be 3/8" thick...

I see in your pictures you centered your hole. Did that have any effect on your machine even though the factory blades are offset?

Any more detail and thoughts you can give would be appreciated.

All the best

Ah, there's the rub. My blades are 7-1/4 inches from the tip to the center of the hole. I'll wager your 90 inch mower uses the same stump jumpers as my 72 in mower and that PT made up the difference with longer blades.

That seems about right but I don't have PT 's blades handy to measure.

I seem to recall the holes were centered in my old PT blades as well so I can't offer any thoughts on the offset.

It looks like you might be able to make one new blade to fit your machine from each Bush Hog #82323 blade instead of two as I can make for my machine. Maybe you can rummage around in the parts bin at your local tractor shop and find something long enough to make two blades from but even if you have to buy six of the Bush Hog blades they aren't very expensive for the quality. They are a good tough hardened blade so don't forget to soften the area where you drill the hole first. That steel will take the teeth right off a hole saw.

Sedgewood

Since this is a memory test only, I seem to remember my PT blades had the hole offset, so I offset mine in the Gravely blades I adapted (also seriously hard). Maybe makes them lead a bit, but as I recall yours worked better than mine, so the center holes certainly work.

The equipment dealer I got mine from had a lot of different sizes and lengths. I'll bet there's one that will make two blades for the 90". If not, maybe there are ones with the right size hole in the center that can just be cut off.
