I have owned my 3000 for over 20 years and the seat looks pretty nasty. I bought this tractor with a fresh overhaul and probably only ran it 250-300 hours before the steering box went out. Tractor had been left sitting outside prior to me buying it and water had gotten inside the steering box and rusted it up so badly the shaft and other items were not rebuildable. This tractor then sat in my shop for the past 10-15 years unused. Due to being stationed overseas for many years I never had the time to fix it. Now we are retired and I finally got around to getting a new steering box, installed it, cleaned the fuel tank, rebuild the carb and she fired up like a new one! Tractor looks pretty rough over-all but purrs like the proverbial kitten.
Metal, especially the radiator surround and grill are in terrible shape. The previous owner had a loader on the tractor and I think he used it as a bull dozer in the woods. I hammered it out the best I could. The only other item on the tractor that needs major attention is the seat. It is pretty bad, very little foam or blue vinyl left on it. Since I really don't want to spend any more money on this tracor does anyone know where I can get a blue colored cover that fits over the stock seat? I see plenty of options for the older 8N's but nothing but entire replacement seat for the 3000 model.
