Hi All,

I know I just posted about this, but I did not realize I posted just on top of a very similar thread. Basically, I am combing the combined knowledge of the TBN site to see if there are any replacement seats for the 2305 that have some suspension in them. My current seat is getting beat up and my back has required recent surgery so going over any rough patches can be especially painful. I see a possibility in the Northern Tool catalog, but I have no idea if it will fit. Are the seat fittings for all compact tractors (at least from JD) alike? They want close to $300, but Deere wants $200 for an exact replacement. If I could save my back any trouble, the extra $100 would be well worth the cost. Thanks in advance.

Im sure others will post specifics but either way, with a little fabrication you can put pretty much any seat you wont on there. Or is there something really different about the tractor that would prevent this

Shortthrow,

I don't think there is anything special about the seating attachment, it is basically just a rod that fits through pre-drilled holes. I just did not know if this was a standard configuration or if Deere deliberately made their seats different, forcing one to buy from them. You have a much different tractor than mine and might already come with a seat similar to what I am thinking about installing (honestly, one would have to look at Northern Tool to see the product). How is yours attached?

Thanks,

If you have a bh, it may pose a problem with the swivel. Just a thought.

Mine is attached with 4 bolt holes similar to the one just posted from northern tool.

No Hoe on my tractor, but thanks for the thought.

I don't think any seat you buy will be a direct bolt on. What most people do, and there are many many posts on this subject is to remove your seat and the sub plate. Leave the adjustment slides. Cut a piece of plate and drill four holes to mount it on top of the slides. Now drill holes in the plate to mount your new seat.

Thanks for the input. Since posting I took a closer look at the underside of my own seat and as you describe, it has a hinge plate that bolts on to the seat bottom. If I were lucky, I could just match up holes. But if the pre-drilled holes, do you see any problems in just drilling my own and attaching as appropriate.

Let me know if this sounds reasonable. Thanks,
