I am trying to help a friend find a part which I believe may be hard to locate. He borrowed a small Kobelco SS1/2 excavator from a friend of his, and somehow a side cover fell off somewhere between New Jersey and Tennessee. The excavator is a tiny little thing, like the one shown in this YouTube video. Kobelco SS. The missing side cover is the one the guy lifts up right around 45 seconds into the video.
My friend has already tried contacting Kobelco, the part is no longer available new. To make matters even more interesting, the machine is a graymarket unit brought in from Japan. I have tried calling several used equipment dealers myself, most of them have never heard of this model, the few that have said basically "good luck".
if you have any suggestions of where I can locate this part, it would be very greatly appreciated. The part is needed pretty badly, I am quite willing to try contacting sources in Japan, I don't know how to find them.
