I bought my son a 1 9/16 Bosch SDS Max rotary hammer a few years ago (it lives in Va), and I bought myself a HF Bauer 1 1/8 SDS rotary hammer last summer (it lives in MS). Now I find a need for a wide blade to remove thinset and flooring in Ms. I'm sure the HF Bauer has enough power but the widest blades are made for the SDS Max.
Does anyone know of an adapter to allow me to use an SDS Max bit with an SDS Plus rotary hammer?
I see many adapters to use an SDS plus bit with a SDS Max rotary hammer, but none the other way.
And the 6" wide floor scrapers only seem to come in SDS Max.

Your machine is 99.9% SDS Plus. SDS is the family the shank design lives under. Wiki should help you out. They have a drawing of each shank profile.

BTW- SDS Top is an odd ball Hilti used for a few years- very unlikely it’s that one.

I didn't know that they made adapters. I have both. I carry the SDS Plus with me all the time in my truck and when I'm doing a bigger job, I bring the SDS Max along. Two of the things that I use the Max for that I wouldn't have thought about until I bought it was jack hammering and digging in super hard dirt. The attachment for driving ground rods into the ground is also super useful.

I pulled a few wooden posts out of the ground the other day and I used the jackhammer bit to remove the concrete. Posts where in perfect condition after ten years in the ground, and the concrete chips filled a muddy spot in my garden that was becoming a problem. I used the shovel part to dig down and set some posts for a client in the hardest iron ore dirt that I've ever come across.

This is the one that I have. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Makita-...th-Side-Handle-and-Hard-Case-HR4002/202517713

Do they make that attachment for a SDS Plus rotary hammer? ls a plus hammer heavy enough to drive a ground rod in hard ground?

I learned something here.

Otherwise, someone on the welding forum might have an opinion about welding or brazing a blade mount on an old SDS Plus shank.

PS: Just saw a video of a guy bending over removing floor tile with one. That would be a long day. You could weld a shaft extension if it didn't buckle or absorb the impact.

Never looked. I was hoping for something to drive in T posts, but I haven't found one for that yet. Something else that it works great on is driving rebar through logs and into the ground when doing landscaping timbers. I had to do a huge play ground that needed the timbers to stay in place and be two high so they could get enough mulch in there to pass their inspection. It was a day care. Driving 3 foot long lengths of half inch rebar through the half inch holes in the logs, and into the ground was super easy!!!

I have an older version of that drill. Mines a 4000c that Ive had for a long time. I bought it to install steps in manholes for some bond release work I was doing. Its been used heavily and still performs like new. I have a smaller Makita with the sds drive for lighter work. Gave up on Jacobs chucks for hammer drilling years ago.
