A listing for a used Rhino flail caught my attention. The markings on it read: Rhino by Dandl ORC 6.

It's apparently an "orchard" model (6 foot). How does that differ from "not-orchard"?

What does the "by Dandl" mean? A Rhino design built by Dandl? Rhino is owned by Dandl? Does it have any implication other than who owned whom?

It's far enough away that a visit to kick the tires is undesirable without knowing more about the product's capabilities. My google-fu has been weak in finding much about it. I need a step up from the Caroni class flails for a small decade+ untouched, wild farm. Input would be welcome.

I also looked at the Rhino flail site and "no joy" finding any info regarding the model you found. Suggestion - find the closest dealer who sells the Rhino flail and call and see what info they can provide.

It may be worth paying someone to make the first few passes at your overgrowth, and then go with a Caroni or other relatively inexpensive unit for maintenance.

"Dandl" is the former brand specific name for the mounted implements that they manufactured until they were purchased by the Rhino folks.

The "Orchard" designation indicates it is ment for heavy brush including pruned limbs for fruit trees, cane stalks from berry fruit rows and vineyard prunings as well as grass and brush mowing and ment as an all purpose mower.

The spare parts like V belts and the open flange roller bearings are easily found as well as knives and knife hanger hardware from flail master, Rhino and other venders.

Thanks for the info, leonz, it sounds like what I'm looking for. He's not giving it away, but it appears to be in exceptional condition and costs 1/3 or so of a new equivalent.
