Greetings,

So trying to learn so be patient. Most of the tractors I have used did not have quick attach buckets until recently. I was at an auction recently and there was a whole bunch of quick attachments for tractors. Most buckets and forks made by Kivel and the grapples were titan (Cheap chinese?). Buckets, forks, grapples etc. of all sizes were auctioned off. I understand I would need a third function valve to operate the grapples and a small tractor should not have a 72" bucket. Are all these attachment hook ups basically the same for all tractors? I would hate to buy something and find out that it does not fit. I have Kioti tractors (DK45 RX6010)at my work a Kubota LX2610 at my dads place and a Yanmar LX590 at my father in laws.

Thanks for any help
Sean

No they are not the same. Some tractors have the standardized skid steer attachment which is a large plate. Others have brand specific pin on loader attachments. The skid steer standard sounds great until you look at the weight of the system which challenges the lift capacity of smaller tractors.

Most of the newer tractors have SSQA, except JD tractors which have their own hook up (yet you can get a SSQA for most of them also). Here is an article explaining some of the differences Skid Steer Quick Attach Vs. JDQA - Tractor Time With Tim

If the implement is SSQA it should work with your SSQA. The issue becomes the weight of the implement. You can end up using a large percentage of your lifting capacity for the attachment and not have much left for a load. Yet, if you size your attachments properly, it is nice to switch them from tractor to tractor. We switch front loader attachments from the Kubota to the Massey all the time thanks to the SSQA.

So, if you have SSQA on all those tractors, yes they are the same hook up.

The older loaders used pin attachments (still can buy tractors with that).
Most new tractors (compact, utility size) use SSQA attachment, JD uses their own that doesn't work with everyone else.
Larger tractors use Euro connectors.

Ssqa rocks. No more jd specific attachments. Bucket, hay fork, pallet fork all interchange and are a one person job to change.

SSQA components weigh approximately 115 pounds.

Interesting and good info here. Thanks.

So to clarify If I have SSQA on my father in laws Yanmar (LX590)with Yanmar attatchments, and he buys a new Kubota or Mahindra (60hp)with SSQA he can use all of his attachments that he already has?

So what is the difference if any from a regular skid steer attachment for a skid steer and a SSQA on a tractor and are they interchangeable? Do J-D skid steers use quick attachments or their own system?

I’m not sure what Jeff’s answer is but most SSQA stuff is interchangeable and I believe JD skid steers are SSQA also. JD tractors can be made into SSQA also.

Only appreciable difference(s) between attachments made for skidsteers and tractors using the SSQA is the ones for skidsteers tend to be heavier than those built primarily for compact/sub-compact tractors, and the hydraulic flow requirements for attachments with hydraulic motors (e.g. hydraulically-driven mowers and augers).

Otherwise there is no difference as the physical interfaces for the SSQA plate is the same, and they can be used interchangeably. Now the hydraulic couplings may also be different as most implements for skidsteers will likely have flat-face couplers, and those for tractors may have pioneer/ag-style couplers, but it's easy enough to either change the hydraulic couplings - or just assemble an adapter from a pair of each of the respective couplers. For example, a few years ago I bought a Danuser Intimadator which came with flat -flat face hydraulic couplers while my tractor has the ag-style hydraulic couplers; rather than change the couplers on the Intimadator I bought a set of flat face couplers, a pair of 90° elbows and a pair of ag-style couplers and assembled them into adapters. This has allowed me to leave the original flat face couplers on the Intimador (or any other implement with flat-faced couplers) while also leaving the ag-style connectors on the 3rd function hydraulic couplings on the tractor.

The SSQA interface is the SSQA interface which has been standardized for all machines that use it .... which includes almost all modern compact tractors (John Deere being something of an exception as it's an option vs. their own interface), many modern sub-compact tractors, all modern skid steers (at least in the US), along with some models of: compact telehandlers, compact wheel loaders, TLBs/backhoes, and likely other machines.

Hopefully this clarifies more than it adds to the confusion.
