Scag tiger cub deck lift spring???

How in the world am I supposed to get this deck lift spring on? This thing is so tight, I don't see how to get it on. I must be doing something wrong. someone please help. Thanks

Can you post any pictures? Not knowing exactly what you are working with can you jack up the deck with 2x4's or something?
