Just bought a Satoh. First one!!!
The 3pt hitch will not lower to the ground.
Does anyone know if and where the hydralic filter is?
It has a lever just under the seat, doesn't do much, no matter which direction its pointed in.
Help anyone? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I don't know on yours, but on mine the filter is just in front of the left fender. There's a cap there and if I pull it out, there's a filter attached. It's a simple wire mesh type. I'm betting that's not your problem though. Nothing is as simple as that.

I've been fighting a hydraulic problem myself for the last few weeks. These things are a mystery to me, but I'm learning. You say yours doesn't lower to the ground. That sounds simple enough. From my research I've found that to lower the hitch to ground it is as simple as opening a valve letting the fluid escape the lift cylinder. I'd start by looking at the linkage. Make sure it is moving the little levers on the right hand side of the tractor under the seat. If it is; sounds like bigger problems. Must be something inside the valving not opening. Good luck with it. Thank goodness I haven't been there yet.

First the filter has nothing to do with the lift not lowering. If the lift raises and lowers Then it is working ok. The leaver under the seat should lock the lift up. raise it all the way then move the leaver to see it it locks the lift up. The links attaching the short upper arms to the lower arms may be too short. See if there is a place nearer to the axle where the links can be attached. The closer they are to the axle the the greater the range for the lift but also it reduses lift capacity.

Thanks for your insight. I'll have a look tomorrow. My luck the spool valve or ? is broken.

Thanks for your insight. I don't think the arms have been changed though. Whereas they are both basically have appearances of being OE.
I'm thinkin something inside!!! is broke/or worn.
