Sarah, the diagram of the different wheel positions is going to be confussing. What it is showing is the different configurations possible with the R-1 wheels. If you look at your rear wheels you will see that the inside of the hub will unbolt from the part of the wheel that the tire is mounted on. If you mount the inside of the wheel in the dished out position and on the most outward position on the other part of the wheel you will have the widest wheel stance for your tractor. It's not something I would recomend trying yourself. Tractors are sort of "different" to jack up than your car. If you don't know what you are getting into it would be easy to get injured or worse. Also the tires and wheels are heavy. Try and find someone to help you out with setting the wheels to the wide position.

Sincerely, Dirt

Sarah:

I second DirtWorks comment. If you had a bucket you can put it down to 'stabliize the tractor' when you jack it, but since you don't it could be dangerous. The front axle could pivot and let the tractor fall on it's side. Unless you have lot's of jack stands to stabilize it I wouldn't attempt it alone. Never mind the fact that the tires themselves are pretty heavy, when loaded Very, Very heavy.

I too have Unverferth rear spacers on my 3520 Deere. It's good to take rollover seriously, Sarah. The tipping point will vary depending on tire setting, ballast, implement mounted etc. It is always better to be conservative in your operation. Keep the seat belt fastened. Watch out for chuck holes on the down side and rocks or stumps on the upside a sudden changes in tractor tipping angle can be very hazerdous. Also, always carry your loader as low as possible.
