Since male reindeer loose their antlers in winter and females dont, does that mean that Santas sled is pulled by females? And what female would be named Rudolph?

There are other possibilities. They could be castrated males which do retain their antlers later. Since they fly they are slightly different from other reindeer and this may be another of their differences. Check out Snopes: Are Santa's Reindeer All Female?

Another difference found in a song:

"Up on the housetop, reindeer paws,"

It's about time that people notice the females have been pulling the heavy load for some time.

Close, but no cigar:

Up on the housetop
Reindeer pause,
Out jumps good old Santa Claus
Down through the chimney
With lots of toys
All for the little ones,
Christmas joys

I'm sure my Dad sang this in church...

As shepherds washed their socks by night,
All seated 'round the tub.
A cake of "Sunlight" soap came down,
and they began to scrub.

During my younger days in church we sang
O Holy Cow
Her butts as big as a holstein.

I liked Pogo's Christmas songs -
Deck us all with Boston Charlie
Walla Walla Wash and Kalamazoo

I don't know so much about Kentucky, although that's where my ancestors are from, but us Okies don't perspire much, it's mostly sweat this far South.

Both male and female caribou lose their antlers in the Spring when the new ones start to grow just like every other deer species. Domestic, or tame caribou are reindeer. Female caribou are the only deer species that is common for the female to grow antlers. Their antlers are much smaller then male caribou antlers. But it's not 100 percent of female caribou that grow antlers, just like it's not 100% of every other female deer species does not grow antlers. A deer species is an animal that grows antlers, which fall off every year and then new antlers are gown. A horn never falls off, it just keeps growing. Deer species do not have horns. The only exception is the pronghorn antelope that grows a sheeth over bone that falls off every year like an antler, but the bone remains and a new sheeth is grown when the old one falls off.
