Sand Burrs

Does anyone have a "cure" for sand burrs? Our property is in Colorado county, TX with a lot of sandy soil which seems to really breed the burrs. The dogs love the place but are almost hesitant to run because of them. Any help would be welcomed.

Bill,
I see your mowing about 4 acres. I am not sure my solution is econimical enough for that but I have used a pre-emergent such a Belan or Batasan. You will need to apply now and then again in the spring. In the mean time keep it mowed and fertilized frequently and eventually you will get them under control. Good luck.

this is part answer and part question, doesn't 24d kill sand burrs?? i had them pretty bad in my yard, so last spring, before the bermuda started growing, i sprayed the yard with round-up, brown out, all over, then used the balan pre-emerg, and just re-applied the balan a last week,plus sprayed with 24d. so far its made a big difference, its hard to keep my grandson in shoes this year..
