I wasn't goin to post this. This is the first pet I ever buried with my Kubota. I paid $5 for this dog Kandi at the pound. Best money I've ever spent.

So sorry. I lost my best friend about a year ago. I know you don't think you are ready but there really is only one thing that can fill the hole in your heart and your spirit. I still miss Ranger each and every day.

My wife made me go get a new puppy, and it really had made me hole again. He is not Ranger, but he does have such love for me, I never knew how much I really needed a dogs love.

Had to do it twice last year. The first one was on my first day of retirement. The second one was two months later.

I will say this, at least the tractor can dig the hole deep enough to prevent other animals from digging up the body. I was thankful for that. It also moved some very big rocks on top of the graves as markers.

Very sorry for your loss. Buried my best friend about 3 years ago, not looking forward to my wife's labrador passing....

You have to remember that the shelters are full of animals that deserve good homes. They can not replace a lost friend but they can lessen the pain. I was a total wreck for months...then my wife drug myself out of the house to a shelter and I came home with Remington. He is a puppy and a full on puppy pain in the tush. But if I am under the weather he knows, and he will just calm down and lay right with me with his head on me....they have magic powers that just make you feel better. Nothing better then a dog head.

Here is his "booking photo" from the shelter...from this photo I should have known.

Here he is with Recon, our other old dog, she was a stray that started to live under my porch. 100+lbs with about 10lbs. at the time. She played with him so gentle.

I know it is hard, and I felt like I was cheating on Ranger when I looked at Remington, but I know Ranger would want me to be happy. Dogs will put our needs above their own.

Wonderful tributes to beloved pets. Losing one is almost like losing a blood family member. Thank God for dogs!
