Ok I'm new to tractors and new to the forum. I've tried doing lots of searches and coming up fairly empty handed. The other day it was pouring and it let up so I started the tractor which ran awesome and shut it off...went to start again awhile later and nothing. I've changed plugs, cleaned points, cleaned cap, disassembled and cleaned carb, new fuel lines and filter.new vac hose to timing advance. And I got it running and idling but now if I go to turn the rpms up it will get to about 1800 and stall. I don't really know how these carbs are supposed to work but if I manually pump the accelerator pump it will take a couple pumps to actually get a stream of gas out which is leading me to believe the pump is bad. ANY input would be great. I've owned it for about 2 months and have ZERO problems no odd noises or anything to make me think it's something else major. Also I've kinda got to set the choke where it's not fully open..is this normal? If I leave it fully open and set it where I want it to idle with the idle screw it will want to sputter.

Drain the fuel tank and check the condition of the fuel. Does the float bowl have fuel in it after a stall? You can remove the float bowl drain plug immediately after it stalls to see. Idle mixture setting may be a little off, it should idle well without the choke on when warm. Will it run continuously at idle if you don't try to accelerate?
