I just purchased an S650G with a national FEL and I'm looking for some info. I have searched here and learned a lot about these tractors. I also found the satohparts.com site and found some great info there. I found this tractor about a month ago at a dealer who said they don't check their used tractors out, they just put them on the lot and sell as is to keep the price down. I knew this tractor had a broken throttle, choke, and tach cable. They let me drive it around the lot and check everything out. It ran really well and made no bad noises. I decided to purchase the tractor and got it home yesterday. First thing, I fixed the throttle and choke cables. I then put it to work for about an hour leveling my gravel driveway. I started to notice the smell of antifreeze and decided to shut it down and check things out. It didn't seem to be overheating, but I could here gurgling in the cooling system. It looks like it was coming out the rad cap. So it could be a bad cap. Getting to the point, I found that the fuse for the idiot lights was bad. I fixed this, and found that the oil light stays on when the tractor is running! Since I have ran the tractor at the dealer for 15 minutes and at home for over an hour, with no bad noises, I doubt the oil pressure is really too low, but I want to check it out. Can anyone tell me what kind of oil pressure it should have? I will verify it with a mechanical gage. Can anyone tell me what the pressure rating should be for the oil pressure switch? If I know that - I could source a replacement sending unit at my local store.

I put an oil pressure gauge on it. When I fired it up and the gauge jumped to 50psi I felt much better! Looks like it was just a bad sending unit for the idiot light. I still haven't figured out the gurgling in the cooling system. The next time I use it hard for a while I'm going to go over it with my infrared thermometer and see if I find any hot spots or anything. I guess I better start thinking about getting the manual.

mine "gurgles" once it has been ran hard for a time. I also think mechanical gauges are a good thing, I just have yet to install some

Hello - I just bought an S650G and was thinking that installing gauges would be a good idea. Not being much of a mechanic, I am wondering how to do that. Do you have any advice? Thanks.

An oil pressure sending unit should be NAPA #OP 6075. A gurgling noise from a warm engine is normal for my S650-G.

the lamp should come on when starting and go off while running so it is probally the oil pressure switch
