S650g belts type and width

I used the parts list on the S650g website to buy belts for our tractor. The new belts are wider than the originals. (originals are just under 3/8 and new are over 3/8, even though the sleeve calls them 3/8.) With the added width, the top layer of the belt rides above the pulley edges. (old belts rode flush with the pulley edges). The only belts I've found so far that are narrow enough to sit flush in the pulleys are fractional horse power type. From what I understand these are only for light duty use, so am I correct that they're not suitable for a tractor? If I go with the listed belts, will they slip or wear quicker because they ride too high on the pulleys?

Try V-Belt Supply. They will give you the honest size answers, even browse their products to find the right types.
