Title says it all . I have one acre. A BX and a leg that makes pushing a spreader not fun

I don't have a BX, but there's no reason I can think of that a regular sized hopper broadcast spreader couldn't be used. I have a Befco broadcast spreader that I have used since my first tractor, which was a Kubota B8200.

I have a pretty good sized spreader I ran on my BX a couple of years. The hopper was a little close to my head but it worked fine. A picture of the spreader but on my JD.

I used an old Fressori ag spreader on the 3pt of all 7 Kubota's I've owned, starting with a 17HP B7100HST.

Has worked well for almost 40 years to spread coal ash on the road.

The only thing I did was remove the PTO driveline and install a hydraulic motor on the spreader gearbox. That way, I can control the spread rate independently of the tractor ground speed.

I don't know what you are talking about. My 3 pt conical spreader is red, lightweight being made out of high tensile steel, cost me under $500 new, had no mfgr.'s designation but it is like the first picture in this post. I plant seeds in with my JD drill but on fertilizing I use this spreader which will hold 500# but I usually only put 400 in it as it is less likely to clog on certain pelletized fertilizer mixes.

I don't use the spreader to seed because I feel that I have a lot better control on planting and they get buried and covered with the drill whereby the spreader would only scatter them on the surface making me have to come back with a harrow to put some dirt on them.

How did you mount the motor to replace the pto drive

Spreaders like shown above work great. I have one. But IMO it would be over-kill to use it for just one acre. I use mine for 5 acres and can do it in <30 minutes.

A smaller pull behind on wheels would do an acre in 15-20 minutes. And save you a ton of $$.

You can't see it very well since the spreader is caked with ash & snow.

I bought a hydraulic motor rated at 100 rpm, much slower than the 540 rpm PTO. I found a 5/8" keyed shaft adapter for the motor that had a spline which matched the spreader gearbox. To keep the motor from turning, I welded a tab on the mounting bracket and cut a slot in the spreader frame for the tab to slide into. Set screws keep it from sliding off.

Works great using one of the rear remotes.

I agree and if my leg allowed me to comfortably walk and push a spreader that is the way I would go in a heartbeat . So I’m looking for an alternative

I wasn't suggesting you get a walk behind spreader, but rather a pull behind spreader you attach to your drawbar. Won't throw material 30', but will be far superior to a walk behind model.
