Hey guys, so I have 2 side delivery hay rakes, a NH 256 and a NH 56. The 256 has rubber teeth and the 56 has the steel kind. I just bought the 56 and have no experience w/ the metal tines and I only need one rake so I would prefer to keep the one with the good/better teeth? :confused3:

Your :2cents: is appreciated

Thanks for the input.

Rubber teeth were considered an upgrade on NH rakes. They broke off less so less "iron" left in the field. That said if your raking needs are modest, I would keep the teeth in better shape. I would also keep the 256 rake as it is newer. The teeth are interchangeable between rakes. The steel teeth are cheaper to replace.

Keep the 256 its a newer rake. True, the steel rake teeth are cheaper to replace but . . . .When they break off, and they will, in my past experiences they always pick up in a tire of a truck, tractor, baler or loaded wagon of hay headed to the barn to beat an incoming rain storm. Its up to you, our rake had rubber teeth . . . .John

Back in the old days when they came out with rubber we switched all of ours over. Well worth doing it before season rather than replace as fail.
