Just took delivery of a RTV900 today - better than anticipated.

I attached a jpeg of the delivery.

The tech who delivered said to change the oil after 5 hours and to use 15W-40. The manual doesn't mention a 5 hour oil change and the only oil mentioned in the manual is either 10W-30, 10W-40 or single grades 10W, 20W and 30W, depending on the temperature.

I doubt a 5 hour oil change would be bad but using a heavier oil than recommended by Kubota could be. Any recommendations?

Lloyd, I think he's right about the 15W-40. Kubota has, for reasons unknown to me, been behind in updating their manuals. You want an oil rated for diesel use, and even in 1999, my Kubota manual called for CC or CD oil in a 10W-30, which I'll bet you cannot find anywhere. Those are obsolete ratings.

Thanks for the info - I think I'll use the 15W-40 but I don't know about doing it after only 5 hours.

Another item in the manual I should have mentioned that took me by surprise is the recommended 50 hour break in before operating at full speed. That seems like a lot of operating time for a break in.

I attached another photo even if they do all look the same.
The dealer won't be installing the cab and plow until later. They will pick up, install and return for no additional charge.

LLoyd, Kubota tractor manuals also call for not using full throttle the first 50 hours, but the 540 PTO speed to run many implements is only a couple of hundred engine RPM less than wide open, and I think any dealer will tell you that you can start right out mowing, tilling, etc. Many folks also say to "break it in the same way you're going to be using it" and I agree. Don't worry about it; just vary the RPM a bit for awhile, including some pretty high RPM under load to seat the rings.
