My skid steer isn't much on hill side snow removal. Believe my RTV1140 will be better for much less money.
Anyone got some advise concerning plows (model and brand identifying) and prices (Dollars cost) and mistakes to avoid.
I know more expensive is usually better but I won't use the plow but two or three times a winter for a 500' sloping concrete drive way.

The 1140 does a really nice job plowing. Don't settle for one of the universal $500 or $1000 atv type plows. The RTV will tear it up for sure, even with limited use. Find a used Curtis plow that was made for the non-x RTV series. They are out there, I'll bet Barlows could help you out. I got my V4208 Curtis plow, including mount, wiring, hydraulic angling option and lines for $700 used. I converted the lift to hydraulic (see the video/info in the other topic). I also put big skid shoes from a BX plow on it, but with a concrete drive like yours, this wouldn't be necessary. Total, I had about $1000 in it and it works beautifully. Go for it.

All this being said, if I were buying a NEW plow, I would buy one of the Boss plows.

I agree with TLJ...Get what's designed for the machine. I love the Curtis I have on my 1100 with one exception--The lift height is much lower than I would prefer...Other than that, I love the power angle and the lift actuator is pretty good once you get used to it. Ain't cheap though.

The RTV's plow snow great due to the weight and the diesel (if equipped)..We just got 5" or so of wet, heavy, sloppy crap and I moved it like it wasn't even there...Neighbors quad was turning sideways when he'd get a small load on the blade.

If planning on plowing paved or concreted driveways, place a piece of machine belt or horse mat on the lower part of the blade to prevent scratching--it also helps with not removing gravel should you get carried away with your plowing.

I have the Curtis plow on my 900. Has worked well for me though I did modify it a bit to add capacity.
If I knew then what I know now I probably would have gone aftermarket, Boss. I thought that the Curtis offered by Kubota was the only one available.

Here you can see that I added 4" to the top of the mold board and added a set of wings.
At this point the linear actuator is totally maxed out. When it fails I will be converting it to hydraulic lift.

You Yankees that get more snow in a day than I get in a year are very generous with my money!!:D:cool2: I do thank you for your advise and bringing me back to what I know is right, get good to start with instead of getting good after buying the second, third or fourth time cheap.
I have to fight the impulse to save a few or a few thousand dollars for something that I won't use often.
My first rear finish mower was $1200, pretty red, flawless welds and a piece of junk for my abusive mowing on a field converted to a yard with gullies, rocks and former high spots. After it came apart a few times at the beautiful almost unseen welds I took it back to Barlows who gave me my $1200 back toward the purchase of a $1700 Landpride RFM that every weld was visible and it was built solid as a tank and I never broke it.:)

For where you're at I'm sure the Curtis would be just fine. Even though the Boss would be better ;)
I can't speak to the ATV plows since I've never had one but I know that the RTV is a big beast that can put the power to the ground.

I am honestly surprised I have not broken at something on the plow (skid shoes excluded, they are junk) with the amount of use/abuse I've given it. It's held up well.
I personally wouldn't want anything lighter duty than that.

Just got a call from Dealer in Lexington, Ky that Poly Boss is $3050 plus tax and delivery and over $5000 for the V4291 and almost $5000 for the Boss V metal. Haven't talked to Steve Barlow yet for prices.

For your limited use the poly straight BOSS or the V4208 Curtis would be more than enough. Check craigslist for used Curtis blades, that's how I found the one I have.

Have located a Curtis Sno Pro 3000 plow locally with "Curtis Quick connect?". Seller keeping inside wiring for his coming replacement larger plow. He's been using on a Dodge PU. How much trouble is it going to be to connect this to my RTV1140 mechanics/attachment/adapter plate wise? I know I'll have to buy inside controller and inside wiring harness.
