I washed my RTV 900 last night and when I went to dry it I noticed my rubber rings cracking around my ROPS.

Now this really irks me, as the RTV is kept out of the weather. One ring cracked in half, the other will fail if I touch it enough.

The rings look to secure the rubber protect "caps" where the ROPS meet the front end frame assembly.

How are others holding up?

Just went out to take a look at mine, nothing wrong here.....

Might want to go to your dealer, and let him give you some...

you do use son-of -a -gun on them right? if not rubber does give out in any weather even if kept in a shed. i use it on my cv boots to so it will keep the rubber sof on them too.infact o spray the whole hpx down with it so the mud don't stick to it.

I agree with Tommy4x4,

That Son-of-a-Gun protectant, is just that ,, I also spray the heck ALL over my unit. All Rubber parts and all, keeps the rubber flexable, and will not let 'em dry rot >>>>

I find those materials when applied other than by hand detailing, dangerous.

Rubber surface contact with that stuff make it slippery.

I am not about to hand detail my RTV, perhaps I can let the kids do it.

Now my Truck.... different story. :)

-Thanks for the advise.

Do you store the RTV near anything that creates ozone? Electric motors come into mind. I once worked at a tire store and we found that tires stored near the air compressor motor for a long time would become cracked from ozone exposure. Also, the best product for protecting from UV is "303 Aerospace Protectant" available at most boating stores. I once owned a boat that stated that all rubber and vinyl parts of the boat should be protected with 303 and the warranty would be void if Armor-All, Son of a Gun, or some others were used on it. 303 is not nearly as slippery as the others. If you look up the high end rubber boats they all recommend 303.

Brianw Thanks for the 303 advise.

The RTV has its own house. No electric or heat sources nearby.

even if you wask it with soap you still dry out the rubber's and plastic i never had any slipping problem with mine and after 4 years i never had any rubber or plastic crack due to being out in the weather and my hpx has it's own house (the yard).lol to ues?or not to use ?dat tis dee question. pay alittle now or a lot later. besides if your only gonna beuseing it on your rubber stuff i don't think anyone is gonna be walking on them to slip anyway.
