rtv 500 tire psi

riding on my rtv the other day and went to go over a root and ended up with a bent wheel. many may thank i was going to fast but i wasnt too rough for that. finally got it bent back and where it would hold air. well checked book and press in tires and see that they recommend 14. does anybody think this accident could have been avoided had the tire psi been higher? i have raised them all up to about 18, they are rated for max of 22. thanks

I did the same thing to a Honda TRX 450. Had to replace the rim.
I blamed it on OE (operator error). :laughing:

In general, yes correct pressure assists in avoiding that type of failure. But neither we nor you knowing the pressure at the time of impact we can't say that would have helped in that situation.
