Kubota RTV 500
Just ran the first full tank of gas through my 500. The "red" was almost gone on the gauge. Manual says tank is 5.3 gal. I put in 5.4 gal. so it was almost out. Since there is no speedometer, will have to gauge gas use by the hourmeter, if I am not using my GPS for mileage. My hourmeter read 13.5 hours at fillup. That is at "break in" light duty use.
Would be curious to know what "hourmeter mileage" is after break in with normal use under medium/full work and traveling loads while hunting.

Good question, it seems like mine runs forever on a tank of fuel. I never leave it idling, once I'm done moving it's shut off so my hours don't rack up very quick.

My gas gauge gets stuck alot, have to shack the RTV side-to-side to get it to start reading. Service man says this is common. Of course our place is pretty rough so it gets bounced around alot.

Kinda off subjest but how to you like the RTV compared to using the Big Bear.

My old Big Bear is a dependable machine. It's a challenge to keep the carb in tune with this 10% ethanol gas here in Ca. Now they want to go to 15%. Bad.
What is nice about the Kubota is it'a not full time 4WD. The Big Bear full time 4WD would tear up the gravel when "crabbing " while turning. Havent taken the Kubota out on the "island" yet to hunt. I used the Bear to hunt ducks, geese, pheasant and coyotes out here. All flat ground, with mud at times. The mud out here is not bottomless and boggy, unless I go into a plowed field, so I don't expect too much of a problem there. We'll see how far I push the mud thing with the Kubota. The Kubota is a lot handier at moving and hauling stuff around. Really is a utility vehicle. Will have to see how it performs when hunting comes around at the end of Oct. I know it will be alot more comfortable!I used to have an 86 Bronco II that I cut out all the windows and put a 4X4 foot hole in the roof to stand up in. I compare the Kubota more to the little Bronco II than the Bear. If the Kubota is still running as good as the Big Bear after 23 years, that would be something.
Jeez, I'll be 83 then. Hope I hold up for another 23!
