Not that I can find it now, but thought I ran across a thread where if one was getting a 2013 or 2014 RTV 1140 CPX, the Coast Valve Kit was no longer needed as Kubota "fixed it" in these most recent models. Can anyone confirm if that is the case?

It's been fixed and has been for 4 or 5 years. You don't need any coast valve. Pressing the brake pedal releases the pressure and then after a bit of learning how to apply proper (not wimp and not gorilla) pressure on shift lever at a dead stop and blip throttle pedal it will slip right into gear. Same for 4wd/2wd except I don't stop for that change, just apply pressure to lever and if it doesn't slide right in then release throttle a bit while applying pressure and then reapply throttle. It will slide right in either releasing or applying throttle. These RTVs have brakes but are rarely used. Let off the throttle and it stops. Let off throttle quick and it will stop quick/suddenly, another learning curve.

So on our test drive when my wife was unable to shift into reverse that is "normal"? Other than the rust here and there, that was the "biggy" that would keep her from using the unit.

I wonder if as part of my purchase I have the dealer drain and refill the Transmission, Front Axle Case, Kunckle Case, and Hydraulic system replacing it all with Kubota's Super UDT2, fully synthetic product?

Shifting is a bit of an art sometimes....brute force isn't the answer....it's a mix of tapping the throttle, slight lever pressure, brake. In and out of 4 wheel drive is occasionally an art too....a mix of gentle pressure on the lever, turning steering wheel right/left, slow speed while slowly letting off of the gas....a mix of this assists the front gears in disengaging...takes pressure off....when it's ready to shift, it happens fast and easily...it's a matter of finding the right "spot"

Hard to explain but not a problem, becomes almost automatic after a couple of experiences...my wife drives the RTV, loves to...has mastered the technique and does not complain, so not a big deal, just a tad of a surprise at the start...

The start/stop characteristics are now ideal, IMHO....on the new RTVs...older models were very aggressive in stopping and needed the kit. I never use brake for stopping unless I'm pulling a loaded trailer....highest load so far is 1000 gallon metal trailer filled with water...I'm kinda careful with it!!

If you want a little extra as part of your purchase...negotiate for a shop manual...about 100 dollars otherwise...and all fluids and filters for first change...SUDT is not necessary where I am...some people say it's some better under extreme cold conditions...I dunno...except it is VERY EXPENSIVE and not required by Kubota. The topic has been well covered on TBN...typically as relates to tractors.

If it's new there is no need to change or replace any fluids or filters. There is a schedule for that and it's 50 hours. I wouldn't do it before that.
I have owned and still do several Kubota HSTs and would never put anything hydro fluid wise other than SUDT/SUDT2. :2cents:
