With all the talk about the RTV 1100, I had to go check one out. I pulled into the lot and there was one on the front row with the bed up. I parked and went to go check it out. As usual, no sales people came out...

The first impression is man, this thing is tall. I am 6'2 and I could probably put my kid on my shoulders and he would be comfortable.

The cab is tall, but it is not very deep. The front wheel wells really protrude into the cab. The pedals are almost in the middle of the cab. Thus, the driving position seems akward. I sure like the heat and AC. The front windshield opens nicely.

The entry and exit is OK. Exit is worse if you have the emergency brake on. it caught me every time.

The doors are an interesting construction. Tubular steel with I guess a plastic covering. They do not seem to be the ergonomic quality of the John Deere cab.

I like the diesel, AC, radio, etc. I don't like the ergonomics of the controls, the seating positions, the exit, less than impressive local dealer and the $16,000 price tag. I am glad I looked at it, but I am going to pass. I guess I will keep driving my ole HPX until I just can't stand not having a top and windshield.

Your mileage may vary,
D.

I drove one, went down the ditch in front of the dealer and was almost immediately stuck. Took some maneuvering to get out.
I knew then this machine was not for me. It is well built. But weighs as much as a small truck with much less horse power and a huge price tag.
I was turned off quick. The rtv is not for the hard core off road enthusiast.
If it tips over how will you get it up right? It really does weigh a ton.
It's more for the farmer construction type user imho.

I've been slammed on this forum more than once for speaking the truth about this machine, and I have never understood why?
Biggest thing that I have never understood is that when I would mention that it is not true 4 wheel drive.
I would get the responce that they don't need true 4 wheel drive. Who don't need it? I sure do. I go off the easy trails.

As you can see from the pics of my ole Gator,I use mine. Not off roading - I wish it was true 4WD. The more I thought about a cab, the more I thought about having to open and close the door each time I open a gate, etc. I am going for a new XUV if things come together in 08.

Also, maybe they put hooks on the roof to make it easy to flip back over. :)

Sigh....

And some of us don't. Pretty simple.

But your input and others on the true-4wd did educate some people on possible limits of Kubotas application.

I think its pretty simple. The RTV is a work machine, its not a blast around the trails machine. If your out in that application then its probably not the right machine for you. Its good to have options, and in this market there is a machine to fit every niche.

I agree. I spoke highly of the quality build of the rtv. And that it has the nicest cab of any utv I had seen.

One owner stated that the rtv was the only machine that people had the confidence in to run tracks. I disagreed and was slammed.
I stated that all utvs have good and bad points and that different ppl have different needs. http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/atvs-utility-vehicles/114753-belts.html

My point is that we all paid good money for whatever utv we own.
To claim that one utv is superior to another is wrong. I have always said they are all good, if they get you off your tail and on the trail.
Statements like this only stir the pot, "Quote rtv owner:I have to say, this is the best hunting machine God could ever let be on planet earth !!!"
I believe in brand loyalty but come on, the rtv is no better than any other.
Some people take thier appreciation for the rtv a bit to far.

It has always been my thought that this forum is a place to seek help, give help, share opinions and ideas~!
