RPM Gauge

Yesterday while planting some trees I noticed my RPM gauge was not working so I turned her off restarted and the gauge work fine.

sounds like a loose connection right?
While am under there what else should I cehck for?

Both my fuel gage and my tachometer take a tap on the face of the instrument panel sometimes to get them off the zero stop. It's been that way for at least 3 years. One time, my wife asked me to fuel up the tractor so she could do some mowing while I was at work. When I came home, she asked me if I had done it and I said I had. She told me the gage read zero and she thought it was really messed up when she put in 5 gallons of diesel and it suddenly read almost full. I smiled and reminded her of the little tap it takes, but I wouldn't guarantee you she would not do the same thing if she uses the tractor again. She just doesn't use it daily and enough to have all its quirks memorized.

I have the same problem and like Jinman said, a little tap takes care of it. The RPM tach started this at 100 hrs and it sticks 2-3 times per year. I don't pay much attention because I know the sound of my TC 40 to guess within 200 RPM just from listening to the engine. It's a pain, but it isn't worth hauling to the dealership for me.
