Rotary cutter

I am going to get a heavy duty 7 foot rotary cutter.
So far I have a price on:

Bush Hog 326 for $5600
It has duel wheels, front and rear chains, weight 2043 lb, and 190 HP gearbox

Land Pride RCF3684 for $5400
Duel rear wheels [?], front and rear chains, weight?, 190 HP gearbox

John Deere HX7 for $5750
Single wheel, front and rear chains, weight?, 150 HP gearbox

Howse...I cannot find a dealer???

Does anyone have or run any of these rotary cutters? I know the next step down is about $2000 less, such as the Bush Hog 297 for $3700.

The tractor is a 5083e, and I do not even know the PTO shaft size yet.

I agree with the others about the dual spindle. I run a bushhog 3210 (10ft)which requires a minimum of 55 pto hp. A bushhog 327 requires a minimum of 70 pto hp. I have been very happy with the bushhog brand. The 3210 is built like a tank.

I knew, if I waited, I would get the answer I was looking for. :)

Soundguy, the Bush Hog 3008 dual spindle has a cutting capacity of (max) 2" . I may get a dual spindle grass cutter later.

Thanks for the ideas guys.

The 326 is just a 6' cutter, the 327 is 7', btw.

I have a 297, dual tail wheels and chains front and rear. It's a beast. I use it to mow about 40 acres distrituted amongst 7 fields. I've easily cut into some 4 inch trees. I try not to do that to often though. I'm using it behind a CX90 ~80 HP.

Yea, that was a PHP fatal error. I should have said 327.

I sure do hope you guys do not get mad at me about my comment in post # 8. There is a lot of knowledge on this forum.

Thanks Todd. I looked at a medum duty JD rotary cutter where I bought my tractor. The owned brought it back with a busted gear box [I think]. I will be cutting around a lot of stumps.

More than likley, the 4" will be cut with an old Husky 266XP.

Unless you are buying new to take advantage of some financing deal, go used. Search Used Tractors For Sale at TractorHouse.com: John Deere Tractors, used farm tractors and farm equipment, tractors for sale, Case IH, New Holland, Agco, Kubota You'll find a lot of variety and prices. I bought a used JD model 1008, dual spindle, 10', four rear wheels, heavy duty cutter for $1800. It had been used as a finish mower.

Someone mentioned a Bush Hog 3210. They are an excellent heavy duty cutter and can be bought in excellent condition used for $3000-$4000 depending on location.

I also suggest a dual spindle.
