I need some help. Just got a 4 foot KK rotary cutter and mounted it on my tractor. I'm having trouble with the 3 pt arms contacting the inside of the rear tires. I've got the R4's and the eye bolt connection to the arms is hitting on the tire cleats. I'm sure its an adjustment....but can't figure out how to do it.

Each lift arm has (or should have) a sway "chain" (eye bolt is probably part of the sway chain) that limits how far the arm can swing toward midline. A turnbuckle arrangement is common, but there are others as well. With the tractor off, and the cutter in the air, push the cutter to the right. If it can contact the tire, then the left sway chain needs to be shortened. Shorten it until the cutter can no longer touch the tire. Then do the same for the opposite side. You see, the sway chain on the left lift arm limits implement motion to the right and vice-a-versa.

What if you shorten the sway chains as short as they will go, and the arms still contact the tires? Your lift arms may have another hole an inch or so away (toward the implement) that you can attach the sway chain to. You can see, I have done that on my tractor. Make the change and readjust. That should do the trick. If contact still occurs, then you may need to try to shorten the sway chains somehow.

Good luck.

It often helps if you fill out your profile so members know what kind of tractor you have, and so on...

I don't know if it is possible to reverse the pins that your lower arms hook to or not. On some implements it is and you can reduce the spread of the lower arms by doing so.

Not sure if you can do that or not on a brush hog. I have a Woods but can't remember. I know you can do it with other implements because I have...

Just a thought...perhaps worth something or nothing... /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Thats exactly what I do with my Bush Hog Brand RFM and it hels me a good bit. You also may be able to spread your rear tires a bit to get more room back there.

You've goten good advice.. but I;ll add mine as well. The KK should be no problem with turning the pins in.. if it had been a howse.. maybee.. maybee not.

I turned pins in on a box blade for use with my yanmar. made for an odd hookup geometry.. but otherwise worked fine.

Thanks OkieG.....shortening the turnbuckles did the trick! It does look like the 3 pt pins could be turned in if necessary, but I think this will do the job for now.
