Rotary Cutter Rotary cutter decision

I could use some opinions fellas. I need a rotary cutter. I've narrowed the choice down to Rhino. I've got an L3710. I have to choose between a new Rhino TW72 for about 2K, or a used TW60 for $600. I haven't seen the condition of the used unit. I won't be mowing along a fence line, so if it doesn't stick out past my rear wheel no big deal right? What would you do? Thanks for the help.

I'd sure look at the used unit for $600! That's a nice deal. I hope you can hook it up to a PTO to see if it operates Ok though. I'm sure it ain't gonna be pretty...but rotary cutters don't stay pretty too long!
As far as the width behind your tractor...well, unless you need to get close to a fence or something of that nature...no problem there either. You may have to overlap your passes a bit to cut anything pushed down by your tires (on the previous pass)...then again, maybe not. You'll find out and adjust your passes appropriately.

But, that is a great price on the 60" Rhino!

BBearden, I have the TW72 it is a heavy duty unit - I think it weighs about 900 lbs. lots of steel. I'm surprised it has only gone up $200 in a year. It just covers the tire width on my 5030. It will mulch up those cedars, and small trees, just make sure you back over them. But...that $600 sure sounds sweet and with all those rocks by Canyon Lake at least with that TW60 you won't cringe as much when you hit a rock - make sure you get the chains. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
