After 250+ hrs of operation the original blades on my Landpride wore out
(broke, bent, died...). I operate in rocky, sagebrush, HARD ground.

Landpride offers regular and low lift blades, my first question is what's the difference ?

2nd - Do I have any other options for heavy duty blades ?

Thanks

does the exploded parts diagram show them as having a different profile?

Check with Clean Cutter in California and Flail Master about replacement blades,
they may have a carbide coated blade in inventory.

the standard blades have low suction-no curved airfoil edge at the end of the blade

Soundguy,
I have looked through every bit of part, owners and specification sheets Landpride has. The only thing I found was that the low lift blades are "special".
Can any one tell me what "special" about them?

I will check them out.
My original used to have a slight curve to the back of the blades.

My Land Pride RCR1860 has high lift blades. The difference in the high lift blades is a steep "up" bend on the backside of the blade. Supposedly to suck up the grass to cut it better. High lift blades work good on finish mowers. The suck up the grass for a better cut and distribute the clippings better. But on a rotary cutter the only advantage I can see is that it sucks up more dust. I won't but high lift blades for my Land Pride mower next time around.

yep, as the others said.. the curve up on the blade has to do with lift/suction.. that's why i mentioned profile.. too bad the manual doesn't show real blade comparisons.

If you are hitting any rocks at all, carbide is very brittle, and will chip, as well as you will need diamond grinders to resharpen. I would use them only on a golf coarse type yard.

"Low lift" blades tend to require just a bit LESS hp (as opposed to high lift) due to being a flatter profile.

"High lift" blades will pull grass/weeds up after the tractors tires mash them down, leaving you with a better quality of cut. High lift blades will stir more dust in dry conditions.

That said, I run high lift blades on all my mowers. They do so much better of a job. Additional HP demand is minimal.
