ROPS are really critical for a company in case of an accident. Believe what you want but farmers and other large equipment owners may scream about lawyers louder than anyone but are first to sue if anything happens. Drive with the parking brake partially engaged and burn up your machine - sue the company. Jump in a grain bin with the unloading auger running and auger your foot out into the grain cart - sue the company. Our equipment - if anything was found wrong with a ROPS - don't attempt any repair, replace. If a dealer makes a repair and the owner has an accident even if the ROPS repair is not involved the door is open to liability because we allowed a repair to a certified safety structure. The accident victim always goes to the one with the deepest pockets and having worked for an equipment company with the deepest pockets, I learned quickly. Lawyers are the middlemen - it's the person the lawyer is representing who initiates any lawsuit. Product liability lawyers would disappear if people didn't screw up.
