I think most will top out around 10-12 mph unless you get into much larger machines. It makes you notice and appreciate the scenery a bit more if you have to drive more then half a mile.

Harry, I don't really know, but I suspect that's normal. The L3410HST was hydrostatic transmission, 27 gross hp. The B2710 that I used to have was also hydrostatic transmission, 27 gross hp and had a top speed of 11 mph. When I had a little B7100, its top speed was 9 mph.

I think that's about right, I have a 39hp gear tractor and in road gear at rated RPM it goes 12.4 (I think, maybe not exactly). I have turf tires so IIRC, I need to deduct 14%, which puts it at 10.7mph. I would imagine there isn't a huge difference between top speeds for various cut's. I think even the big ag tractors usually top out around 20-25, though I could be wrong- I think I remember seeing that on one of the gear charts in one.

Yep, a neighbor had a big John Deere that would do 22 mph and the Oliver I used so much would do 18 mph.

Sounds a little low. I had a L3710 and top speed was 14 by its speedometer and the book. I think the only difference between it and yours is the 3 HP engine diff.

Remember the old Farmall `M'? Those were pretty fast in top gear. 6 gears I believe,or maybe it was 5?. don-ohio :)^)

You really don't want to go much faster. I have a farmall H, it will do 15 or so, but only on a smooth, paved road. Steel wheel versions were sold with the 5th gear locked out, for safety. Small tractors don't have suspensions or brakes for speed. Euro tractors have faster speeds, but have better brakes and suspensions.

When I was a kid, my father towed our Farmall H with his pickup and lucky me at the wheel. He was in a bit of a hurry - let me just say that loaded tires at high speed will bounce off the ground and scare the &^%% out of you! I was lucky to survive that experience.
