M8540
My son, Big Bubba (7040) slipped out last night, got into some growth hormone (trade in) and is now an 8540 Hydro Shuttle-12 sp.-Turbo Terror. He's now in full rut seeking attractive Lady Boda, preferable not of the baby B series, or Lawn care L series, or Grand (paw) L series, but Much Preferred M series. Must be broke in but with less than 100 hrs. Boda nest pictured below. Send pic of bucket.....stud services available on request. proud papy

What's all this about? Did you get another tractor?

I was never good with literary symbolism.

Hey Big B, Nice rig. I'm curious as what they gave you on the trade. I'm thinking the same move. Can you Pm here?

Congratulations on your new M8540HD12! Looks sharp. So, how do you like the 12 speed vs. the 8 speed you had on the 7040? How about that turbo? What other things are really noticeable between the two tractors?

really didn't need the switch but I've been drooling over the 85 for some time now......plus in 2 days I'm retiring (and off the grid for a long while) so I made the plunge. just had it for 2 days, but have noticed the following:
1) it's wider, longer, longer wheel base, heaver, thus a much smoother ride on rough terrain (farm is in rugged ozark mountains
2) the bigger front tires (although the rig is heavier) leave less footprint
3) the 12 speed is a dream, esp for tillage/hay/fel work to fine tune the working speed. 1st and 6th are basically the same as 1st and 4th
4) less ft wheel spinning in fel work
5) haven't need the extra power, but it's there in the turbo for any future pto hp options
6) the specs are roughly 20% more than the 7040. all added up, it's a heavier duty tractor....did I need it, no....am I riding high in my retirement on my 127 mountain farm? it goes without saying. If you're considering.....study the specs hard vs the price difference. whatever you do with any M. GET THE HYDRO SHUTTLE! just email me for anything else on the rig bb

Before I bought my M7040HD I drove the M8540 with the 12-speed. It is a dream. A little big for me though. Of course I have an M-series on 16 acres so I'm not the best to talk about tractor size to acreage ratio. But with over a hundred acres I think you can safely justify the 8540. Congrats on the purchase!

BBW looking for like minded mate. Play'n in the sand box and enjoying the outdoors is a must. Some baggage. :D
